OOCL Hikes Asia-Europe Rates - 2010-07-05

OOCL notified its customers Friday that it will rates on westbound cargo from Asia to Europe cargo as of July 15. The Hong Kong based carrier said it is introducing this new round of rate increases because its basic operating costs have risen due to “the growing demand on our services in recent months.” The rate increase is $250 per 20-foot equivalent container unit. OOCL’s announcement Friday followed by a day the announcement that it will impose peak season surcharges on Asia-Europe cargo as of July 1. The surcharges are $250 per TEU, $500 per 40-foot equivalent container unit and $500 per 40-foot high cube container.Source: joc.com
