Market study for setting up CFS/ICD

" Client owned land in key locations in some major cities. With growing container business and need CFS/ICD consolidation infrastructure, client wished to enter in to CFS/ICD business. "

Client
Client is one of the oldest and most prestigious real estate development group in India. Client owns a number of real estate properties in major cities of India.

Challenge
Inland container logistics is very dynamic, hence difficult to model. It is interplay of several stakeholders including road-rail operator, consolidators, forwarders, shipping lines, exporters and importers. Business model for CFS at port location and ICD at inland location changes are different, though both offer similar services. Any locations finalized should be beneficial to the stakeholders.

Modus Operandi
Availability of data is the key to any analysis or research. The study rested on primary research and data which was collected from various CFS in the region. A deeper understanding of modal share and connectivity issues was established. Comprehensive competition analysis showed demand supply gap in the region, understanding of their strengths and weakness and existing tariff structure. Key benefits to various stakeholders from the proposed CFS/ICD were analyzed.

i-maritime Proposition
i-maritime estimated the market at three key locations and contemplated capacity of proposed new CFS/ICD at that location. i-maritime created a strategic roadmap for future growth in terms of tariff setting, strategic alliance, de-risking strategy and key allied businesses.
